Our Be Epic Champion of 2023 is Maria “Estela” Avalos, Laundry Attendant. Estela has been employed here at IPVC for a remarkable 17 years. The three values that stand out with Estela are Empowerment, Passion, and Consistency. With IPVC being a small property, a total of nine employees, and no housekeeping supervisor Estela takes it upon herself to keep inventory of all housekeeping supplies and linen. Besides her duties in the laundry area Estela takes pride in “IPVC Origami” during the season of Activities she heads up Thursday Origami classes with Owners and Guests not including providing all Towel Origami for all check ins. Years of service along with her constant interaction with Owners has created a personal relationship here at IPVC. The one story that stands out during this past Thanksgiving Holiday IPVC was short staffed of Housekeepers, being 100% occupied with three extra rooms to clean Estela volunteered without asking. She cleaned the rooms and also was able to complete her duties in laundry. The entire IPVC staff was not only relieved but so thankful of her dedication and loyalty to IPVC. Estela not only devoted employee but she is someone to look up to as a mother and grandma. Estela has been a widow for over 3 years now and devotes her time her grandchildren. When Estela is not working she is attending or volunteering at her church being a devoted Christian.
